About the event
María Raíz at Hood College’s 9th Annual Pop-Up Art Sale
On November 23 & 24, 2026, I’ll be participating in Hood College’s 9th Annual Pop-Up Art Sale in Whitaker Commons, alongside artists and makers from across the Hood community.
At my table, I’ll have a small collection of art prints available for purchase, with proceeds helping support the continued creation and production of my upcoming solo exhibition, Cuerpo, Tierra, y Memoria, taking place April 15, 2027.
But this table will hold more than art for sale.
I’ll also be bringing a growing collection of handwritten messages of encouragement—notes written by strangers for strangers who may need a little kindness, reassurance, or hope. Visitors are invited to pause, read through the messages, take in whatever words meet them that day, and leave a message of their own.
The notes created during the Pop-Up will later become part of an interactive installation…
