Join María Gabriela Raíz, Salvadoran and Filipina independent visual artist, for a Sunday of storytelling, culture, creativity, and family connection at Casa de la Cultura de Frederick.
This month, María will be reading Pequeño Giant, a children’s story about a Salvadoran boy and his journey migrating to the United States. Through the story, children and their families will have an opportunity to explore themes of migration, identity, courage, family, and belonging.
The reading will be followed by an educational family activity, creating space for children and their loved ones to learn, make something together, and connect with the story beyond the page.
For María, these Sundays have also become deeply personal. As a Salvadoran artist, speaking Spanish, sharing stories with children, and spending time among families offers another way to reconnect with culture, language, and ancestry.…
